“With Caroline and Matt there’s so much of a first love feeling to their relationship,” Candice told us. “But with Caroline and Tyler there’s that sense of a budding relationship from a friendship. So I think it goes back to that question, what’s better? You know, what brings about a better relationship? If it stems from a friendship or…do you need that immediate connection of lust and love?”

Q: How challenging are Caroline’s fight scenes to do?
CA: The fight scenes can be very challenging because in television, everything happens very, very quickly. So sometimes you get a script and then all of a sudden it’s like oh, a fight scene tomorrow because that’s going to be the best thing that works out for certain locations. It all comes down to technicalities. The fight scenes, when we have time to choreograph them, they obviously go a lot smoother but it’s television. It moves so fast. I’m so my mother’s child and I’m like a safety sergeant.
Q: What are your thoughts on the arrival of Klaus? Who should be cast and have you imagined an actor playing him in your head?
ND: I can’t tell you too much because I don’t want to give it away, but Klaus is coming at some point by the end of the season. He hasn’t been cast yet as far as I know. We don’t really know that much. We won’t find out again until it’s actually written on the page, but he’s going to be a big, bad vampire. I think Sacha Baron Cohen should be cast, do one of his crazy characters with an accent. So Sacha. Anyone can just pass along the message.

What is going to happen between Tyler and Caroline?
I have no idea what’s going to happen between them.
How many scripts have you read ahead of us?
Two or three — that’s it.
Does anything happen in those?
Yes. There are interactions between Tyler and Caroline. I think the thing to remember is that Caroline’s been lying to Tyler. And also, there are more werewolves coming into town. So how that’s going to sway Tyler in the kind of man that he wants to be is going to be very interesting. How that affects Caroline and Tyler’s relationship and friendship is going to be interesting. Caroline and Matt, whether anything is going to spark. That’s a triangle — there are many triangles. It’s become a whole geometry problem within the town of Mystic Falls. But I think what’s really wonderful is that a lot of supernatural qualities of the show has been going on, and that’s obviously going to continue, but in the next couple of episodes there are a lot of very human questions being asked that are more based on relationships.
Thanks Eliza!
