8. Elena as a vampire?:
An avid reader of the L.J. Smith novels prefaced her question by saying that Elena in the books was turned into a vampire. Three seasons into the television show, there are no signs that the producers are going in that direction. Will they at some point? “We’ll see,” Plec replied.

Below is an excerpt:
First of all, yes, it’s true that the Gilbert parents, Miranda and Grayson, are currently being cast. Of course, these are Elena’s adoptive parents (and Jeremy’s biological ones!) who died when their car crashed off Wickery Bridge before the pilot. With Wickery Bridge in the process of being restored after the fundraiser, we’re leading up to a big unveiling, which is sure to bring back memories for Elena.

Greggieyeah: The Vampire Diaries scoop please! The hiatus is killing me right about now and I need my fix.
We are going to meet Elena’s parents! Well, more specifically, her adoptive parents (and Jeremy’s birth parents): Grayson and Miranda Gilbert. And we can only assume it is for a flashback. As you may recall, Elena’s real father, John (David Anders), took his girlfriend Isobel to brother Grayson (a doctor) to help her deliver a baby, which was Elena, and whom Miranda and Grayson promptly adopted. So far we’ve only seen them in photos but TVD is currently casting actors who are willing to take scuba lessons for an underwater scene. Now, you remember what ghastly thing happened underwater to Elena and her parents, right? And how Stefan saved Elena’s life? Sure sounds like the genesis of some kind of Stefan and Elena rekindling if you ask us! Or, you know, they’re going to flash back to the Gilbert family practicing their synchronized-swim act, which would be even more awesome. We shall see.

shaneo693061: Vampire Diaries scoop? Preferably concerning the return go Jeremy aka Mystic Falls’ hottest little brother?
Well, Julie Plec has confirmed that we will see Steven R. McQueen on the show before season’s end, so yay! Plus, do you remember how Jeremy was known to dabble with drugs in the beginning of the series, as a way to cope with his parents’ death? Well, in the highly anticipated flashback we told you about yesterday, it turns out Jer was partaking in some recreational activities unfit to go on his college apps that his parents were well aware of.

Question: Vampire Diaries fan here looking for hints on who the serial killer is that’s terrorizing Mystic Falls. No way in hell it’s Meredith. That would be way too obvious. —Kim
Ausiello: Here’s your one and only hint: Julie Plec is an evil genius.

The Vampire Diaries
Kicking things off with a dip into the reader mailbag, Amy writes, “I didn’t like the way things ended with Klaus and Caroline. Please say they forgive and make up?” Oh, it’d be far too simple to just tell you what you want to hear. Instead, exec producer Julie Plec offers you this response: “Klaus definitely presents a seductive allure for Caroline, but she claims her heart belongs to Tyler — and in Episode 20, at the school’s decade dance, we’ll see that put to the test.”

ChicaNikki159: No one else has given us Katherine fans scoop about our girl and when she’s coming back to Mystic Falls. Help!
Sorry, Vampire Diaries fans who love seeing Nina Dobrev sexy it up as Katherine, but we’re told there are currently no plans to bring the vampire vixen back to Mystic Falls anytime soon.

DK in New York: The writers for TVD are so cruel! I’m beginning to feel that the whole Elena and Damon kiss was the start and end of their relationship. Any scoop on most people’s favorite couple?
Fear not, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) fans! Though Damon and Elena may seem further apart than ever, sources tell us their estrangement is not permanent and that their complicated dynamic “will be heating up again” this season. We’ll pause while you “Delena” fans rejoice and “Stelena” (Stefan and Elena) fans go through the five stages. It gets better, guys.

@JDale4 OMG… I absolutely can’t believe she shot Alaric… please tell me he is alive? Any scoop??
We can’t spill whether Alaric is still alive on The Vampire Diaries, but we can tell you that Matt Davis seems to still be in Atlanta, so all hope is not lost!
Spoiler via EW:
I’ve really loved everything you posted from your visit to Atlanta. But I’m hoping you got SOMETHING on Alaric while there because [last night’s] cliff-hanger was intense. They’re not killing off Alaric, right? Hoping for good news… — Adriana
Well, when I spoke with Matt Davis on set, they were in the process of filming episode [CAN’T SAY], but perhaps this rough-cut video of our interview will provide a little insight. Quick summary for those who can’t watch the video I’ve embedded: Davis wanted a juicy arc for Alaric, and he’s got one! But whether or not last night’s episode is the beginning or end of said arc, is the question… (Also, if you use context clues, it’s probably not that hard to figure out what episode they are filming, but you might have to put some pieces together from my past reports from the set. I mean, I could just tell you. But that’s no fun.)

Keeleylou25: When are we gonna be getting some good Delena scenes? Is Elena going to realize her feelings for Damon on TVD?
We strongly advise you to not hold your breath while waiting for an epic romantic scene between Damon and Elena (Nina Dobrev). “She hates him,” Somerhalder tells us of the fan-favorite couple. “He’s a d–k.” As for the repercussions of his seriously hot hookup with Original sis Rebekah (Claire Holt)? The return of old Damon! “I think Damon is just starting to get his mojo back a little bit,” Somerhalder teases. “He’s been pining after Katherine for the past 150 years and he’s been pining for Elena for quite a while now. I think it’s just time that he stop
Spoiler via TV Guide:
When is Alaric going to do something other than drink and flirt with Meredith on The Vampire Diaries? — Sam
NATALIE: To be fair, Alaric has lost both his wife and girlfriend to the blood-suckers, so we’ll give him a pass on the nascent alcoholism. But we’ll soon learn more about his vampire-hunting days, which may help us to figure out why Elena trusts him so blindly. “A lot more of his past will be revealed,” Matt Davis says. “Things that he’s been struggling with will be purged and come into clarity for him.”

Spoiler via TV Line:
Question: When will see Jeremy again on The Vampire Diaries? This inquiring mind would like to know. —Nic
Ausiello: “We will see Jeremy before the season’s over,” replies exec producer Julie Plec. “That’s about all I can say on that.” And in case anyone is looking for an updated ETA on Katherine, Plec says, “Homegirl is MIA. She’s smarter than to get herself caught up in all of this mess.” Yes, Julie Plec just referred to Elena’s ancient vampire doppelganger as a Homegirl. And yes, I love her for that.

MandyLee: How about something juicy on The Vampire Diaries?!
How about the fact that people are totes gonna die? This is the scoop executive producer Julie Plec drops our way: “There’s definitely going to be some jeopardy by season’s end. Certainly, many of our characters are going to come face-to-face with their maker at some point before the season is over. The question of whether they meet and shake the hand and get dragged away with their maker is a whole other question.” So it sounds like some deaths might not stick? And others will?
