io9 has an article titled 10 Lessons Every Other TV Show Should Learn From Vampire Diaries.

Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

3) The supporting cast is there to be killed off.

What’s the point of having a sprawling supporting cast, if they all survive? They just hang around, causing crowd scenes and cluttering things up. And having their supporting-casty feelings and things. If it wasn’t for the fact that we just watched season one of Game of Thrones, I’d say that few shows are as willing as TVD to off people right and left. Even some of our favorite characters — poor Aunt Jenna! — are cannon fodder when the show needs to put an exclamation point on a sentence. (Although how the hell is Alaric still alive?) This show’s body count, and its willingness to let people stay dead, is inspirational.

Season 3 Spoilers

Cast and Characters, News

Some insight on season 3 from TV Guide:

Vampire Diaries fans, mark your calendars for September 15. That’s The CW drama’s third-season premiere — and a special day for Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). “Our first episode is Elena’s 18th birthday,” spills exec producer Julie Plec. What’s in store for the birthday girl?

“There will be a small time jump [from where last season ended] as we celebrate Elena’s birthday,” says Plec. “But as is the pattern in Mystic Falls, the event never reaches its climax.” Elena will now be a senior in high school, but don’t bank on a season-ending graduation.

Zap2it talks Season 3

News

Zap2it has an article talking about season 3 and some of what we can expect.

Check it all out here:

Here is an excerpt:

Now that everyone is back to work, though, news is beginning to trickle out about what we’re in for when September rolls around. We were all blown away by the final scenes of the Season 2 finale, when Jeremy woke up to find his dead vampire girlfriends, Anna and Vicki, prowling his house.

When Season 3 begins, some time will have passed. (We’re not yet sure how much time, but knowing “The Vampire Diaries,” it’ll likely remain fairly ambiguous.) The dead girls are still around, and Jeremy hasn’t exactly gotten around to telling everyone he’s being haunted… though we’re not sure why, since ghosts can’t be such a stretch given what the Mystic Falls kids have to deal with daily.

News

Via TV Line:

As viewers saw in the Season 2 finale, Stefan is finally taking a walk on the wild side –- a journey Paul Wesley told me he is quite ready to (sorry) sink his teeth into, when I spoke to him and Ian Somerhalder at The CW upfront event. “For two years now I’ve been really good, so I’m really excited to have a bit of a good time,” he said, “like Mr. Ian Somerhalder does every day.” Speaking of the proverbial devil, does Damon’s portrayer believe his TV sib can be great at bad? “He can definitely bring it,” Somerhalder attested. He added with a wink, “That’s because I teach him.” The question is, how much of Stefan’s darkness will be directed at Elena, who has just locked lips with her beau’s bro? Says Nina Dobrev, “I knew that once that happened, all hell would break loose…. There will definitely be consequences!”

Cast members speculate what will happen in season 3 over at Zap2It.

Here is an excerpt:

Tyler and Caroline are soooo Romeo and Juliet. We saw some tension brewing between Mayor Carol Lockwood and Sheriff Liz Forbes in the Season 2 finale, and word has it that the bad blood will lead to a full-on feud in Season 3… leaving Tyler and Caroline’s burgeoning romance hanging in the balance! Candice Accola told HollywoodLife that Caroline “has a very comfortable chemistry with Tyler. She can just sit there and be a mess and be completely comfortable.” We can’t wait to see the relationship between these two develop. (Just make out already!)

News

Via TV Line:

Question: Is there any more news on Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries? —Lisa

Ausiello: Kayla Ewell has yet to see a script, but the actress believes she’s cracked the mystery surrounding Vicki’s season-ending return from the dead. “I’m thinking [she's] not a ghost, but more of an angel or good spirit coming back to help Jeremy,” she offers. “Vicki really, really loves Jeremy, so [I think] she’s going to try to come back and help him any way she can. But also, wherever Vicki goes, she stirs up trouble. Her intentions may be good and pure, but [I suspect] there’s going to be lots of trouble going on.”

Via TV Guide:

In Season 3, Vicki will tend to “unfinished business with my brother, my boyfriend, my ex boyfriend, with so many people,” says Ewell. “I’m coming back with a vengeance. It’s going to get crazy.”

aka_savannah: Will this partial werewolf bite kill my poor heart-broken Damon? #TVD

Just from knowing what we know about how TV shows work—like how networks don’t let producers kill off lead male characters—we’re gonna go ahead and say…no, Damon will not die from the werewolf bite.

lauren_delena: Any Damon and Elena finale scoop? Will they finally k
iss? Thanks!
We will say that because Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is going crazy over his werewolf bite, he is capable of doing anything and saying anything. All bets are off and anything can happen when an off-his-rocker vampire is on the loose!
