Here is an excerpt:
To nitpick a bit, when Elena confesses to Stefan about the Damon-Elena kiss, she specifically says “I kissed Damon”, and not what it actually was, which was Damon making the move.
IAN: She doesn’t even say ‘I kissed him back’… she was just being honest. I think that she just wanted to be honest, because no one in Mystic Falls is honest. There’s so much ‘whodunit’, and everyone’s got a hidden agenda. I just don’t think she wanted to do that.
JOSEPH (to Ian): You think she was trying to hurt him?
IAN: Probably, yeah, but she was also… Elena’s not even that manipulative, I think she was just trying to say “Look, this happened.” And also, [she wanted] to see what his reaction would be, which was… you know. (Ian makes a fart sound)
ZACH: I think Elena’s also just ready to be loved. She’s just so ready to be taken care of.

Assignment X has an interview with Candice Accola.

Here is an excerpt:
ASSIGNMENT X: When you started on VAMPIRE DIARIES, did you know that Caroline was going to turn into a vampire and, on occasion, a major ass-kicker?
CANDICE ACCOLA: I definitely did not know. It was a very wonderful surprise, especially considering that at the end of the opener for Season Two, Caroline dies, so it’s nice to know that I had an opportunity to come back and still be part of the show, but now as a vampire.

TV Fanatic has an interview with Daniel Gillies.

BEWARE OF SPOILERS
For awhile now, Gillies said he was “pretty confident” he’d return to Mystic Falls, expressing shock and gratitude for the fans’ reaction to Elijah.
“The character just grew in popularity, more so than I ever expected him to,” said the actor. “I’ve died four times and been resurrected four times. It’s great.”
So now that Elijah is back in the suspense-filled picture, what can we expect from him? How does he view the brother who recently placed him, once again, in “the big sleep,” as Gillies referred to his dormant state?
“They’re gonna have to put aside their differences,” the star said. “Let’s face it, both of us have betrayed the other in some way, Klaus obviously more prolifically than Elijah, but Elijah has done his fair share, as well.”

Collider has an interview with Kevin Williamson.
Check it all out here.
Here is an excerpt:
Question: Why did you finally decide that it was the right time to have Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) share a real kiss?
Kevin Williamson: Well, we would have pulled it off sooner, if we could have. We felt like it was time. We just had to wait for the audience to truly respond to the kiss. We have our Elena fans, who have been craving it, but those fans would also reject it, out of hand. There are people who want Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena forever, and they were going to reject the kiss, so it had to be an honest thing for Elena to do. We had to make it real for her, and we had to tiptoe towards it. If we hadn’t, you would have hated Elena. Stefan had to take that turn, so she turned her attention to the one person who’s showing her the love, and she’s tempted by him. Who wouldn’t be? He’s a vampire. He has a power over her, and he’s being really good to her. And, he’s being tormented by it, too. In a weird way, he’s never going to let anything bad happen to his brother.
It’s a great love story because everybody loves everybody. No matter how much they hate each other, everybody loves everybody. It’s a perfect three-way, if they would all just come together. If they could all get along, it would be a hot time. Look, we’re in our third season. I don’t think we have a lot of new audience members, at this point. It is our fans. They’re the ones that are keeping us on the air. They’re our bread and butter. Even beyond that, we just want to be honest to the characters. You can’t just have Elena jump into bed with someone because that’s what the writer wants them to do. You have to earn it, and the character has to do it. It took us this long to earn it. From the second episode of this show, when she walked into the Salvatore mansion and she met Damon for the first time and he kissed her hand, that’s when it began. It just took us two and a half years to say, “I think they can kiss. We’ve earned it.”
