Here is a little scoop from Fancast:
(SPOILERS)
‘The Vampire Diaries‘ sure is drawing out these flashbacks. We still have yet to see how Damon and Stefan actually died, or the burning church with 27 vampires trapped inside. Will we see those events before the end of the first season? – Heather
You will certainly see something. All exec producer Julie Plec would tell me is, “There will be one more flashback episode this year.”
I love the flashback episodes I wish there were more!

A little spoiler bit from EW:
Question: Any Vampire Diaries scoop? I really loved the Damon and Elena interaction we got. Will we get more? —Jezz
Ausiello: Indeed you will. “Damon is obsessed with Elena’s doppelganger, and if one day Elena’s doppelganger is not in the picture, it’s an immediate transference,” explains exec producer Julie Plec. “We’ll see him have an evolution of feelings for her. And, over time, we’ll see her wonder if there’s something redeemable about this guy.”

E! has the following SPOILERS:
Jessalyn in Butte, Neb.: I can’t wait for this week’s flashback episode of Vampire Diaries. Is anything revealing going to happen?
How does this sound? This week’s The Vampire Diaries reveals one of the biggest secrets of all: What actually happened to make Damon and Stefan hate each other? “We get to see the incident that drove them apart for the first time,” says show runner Julie Plec. Ooh, “the incident”? sounds a little Lostish! Also, we’ll see Dexter’s James Remar for the first time as Papa Salvatore. Let’s just hope he lives by a very different code than Harry Morgan!
Dru in Chicago: Tell us more abut this Vampire Diaries “incident.”
All right, but I feel the need to throw out another spoiler alert warning before revealing the following: The incident that tore Damon and Stefan apart involves their mutual love of a certain Elena look-alike vampire. Turns out, Stefan might inadvertently be the reason Katherine was locked up in the tomb, hence Damon’s desire to free her, and his unexplained hatred of his little bro.

The EW has a couple of tidbits about The Vampire Diaries.
We already have heard some of this, but thought I would share anyways.
(Caution Spoilers)
Question: Do you know when Elena will turn to into a vampire on The Vampire Diaries? I am dying to know. —Crystal
Ausiello: If you’re holding your breath for it to happen, you actually might die. Elena’s conversion, says exec producer Julie Plec, “is a fundamental part of the books — it’s, in fact, most of the books. So it’s not something we are going to ignore. But right now it’s a little too Twilight similar for us to feel comfortable dabbling in it.” Beyond concerns about Elena being written off as a small-screen Bella, “the best thing about her is, she’s a non-genre, non-supernatural, true-blue ingénue,” says Plec, “and we don’t really want to mess with that. She’s the relatable character. To pervert that too soon would be a mistake.”
Question: Is anything ever going to happen between Elena and Damon on The Vampire Diaries? —Cupid
Ausiello: Patience, Cupid. And lots of it! “This show is cemented in a love triangle over the whole run of the series,” notes exec producer Julie Plec, “and right now we’re very much embedded in the pure love [of] Stefan and Elena.” So not even a kiss? Yes, Plec teases, but “probably beyond season 1.” Adds boss man Kevin Williamson: “This show is always going to be about Stefan and Elena. It has to be. They’re soul mates.”

EW posted this little tidbit about The Vampire Diaries:
(SPOILERS)
Question: Corner Kevin Williamson at press tour and get some good Vampire Diaries dirt on Damon/Elena. —Beth
Ausiello: I did you one better. I cornered him, got him drunk, and then went in for the kill. “What’s going to be really fun for Damon isn’t seducing Elena — she’s in love with Stefan, so that’s not going to work,” notes KW. “The best way to truly piss off Stefan is to be her friend. True love doesn’t necessarily come from passion. And he also needs the friend. So they develop an unlikely friendship that’s real.”
