The New York Post has an article where they list 5 reasons why The Vampire Diaries is better than Twilight.
Here is an excerpt:
2.) The Vampire Diaries is bloody, gory and full of killing.
In other words, it’s a more traditional vampire horror tale than “Twilight,” which is heavy on romance, light on murder.
And while they all look like models in both series, the ones on “Diaries” sometimes get dirty.
“The vampires, while pretty, are still sort of vicious,” explained Lindsay Soll, editor of MTV’s Hollywood Crush blog. “When they’re hungry and about to feed, their fangs come out — they don’t even have fangs in ‘Twilight’ — and their veins stick out. They’re not afraid to make pretty people ugly.”
They’re also not afraid to make pretty people die.
There’s already a sizable body count and, now that the people of Mystic Falls, Va., are gathering their stakes and fighting back, Morgenstein promised, “There will be more killings.”

PopWrap counted down the 10 best Shows of 2009 and The Vampire Diaries came in at #9. Below is what they had to say.
See the complete list here.
9. “The Vampire Diaries”
Scoff if you must, but “Vampire Diaries” haters are synonymous with the uninitiated. To know this show is to love it, and to write it off as a “Twilight” knock-off is a huge mistake. If Edward or Bella ever said anything as astute or acerbic as Stefan or Elena, I would die of shock. And with Damon, Ian Somerhalder has breathed dead life one of the most devious, diabolical and delicious villains in decades. Scenes (and costumes) like this one don’t hurt either.
This is a juicy SPOILER from E!:
WARNING: Read at your own risk below:
Monica in Portland, Ore.: How great is Vampire Diaries? I thought I would hate it, but I’m obsessed. Do you know what big things they’re leading up to for the end of the season?
I can tell you that the writers actually aren’t going to wait until the end of the season to open the tomb with all the vampires and Katherine in it, and you know that’s gonna be good!
SWEEETTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People.com has an article listing three reasons that The Vampire Diaries will suck you in.
Read all the reasons here.
Below is my favorite reason they list: (I love Bonnie)
3. Magic in the Mix:
There’s a supernatural creature for everyone in Mystic Falls. In addition to the vampires running wild, Elena’s best friend Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham) discovers she’s a witch. As Bonnie comes to terms with her powers, she also comes to blows with Damon, forcing a vampire-witch showdown that marked one of the series’ creepier episodes. Fans paying close attention towards the end of the show’s fall run were also left wondering if a werewolf would soon be joining the ranks of Vampire Diaries growing list of mythical creatures. Curious to know which character’s going to make the switch? Tune in this week to find out. –Kiran Hefa
