Lindsey R. Garrett is joining the cast as Samantha Gilbert.

Here is some info from TV Guide:

Samantha, in her 20s, is described as a bit of a gossip, but don’t expect her to cross paths with Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) anytime soon. She’ll appear only during flashbacks in the episode titled “1912,” airing at the end of February, as one of the town’s founding family members who interacts with both Salvatore brothers.

I love flashbacks!!

News

Spoilers via E! Online:

Annalisa: Loving Klaus and Caroline’s chemistry. Awesome twist! What’s going to happen with them? Anything?
I hear it’s also one of The Vampire Diaries’ writers’ favorite scenes of the season, but don’t expect a sudden relationship to be born. Caroline (Candice Accola) is still holding strong to her faith that Tyler (Michael Trevino, who will be MIA from Mystic Falls for the next five episodes) will come out the other side of his sire bond issues. However, don’t expect Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to back off, either. Word is we see more of his interest in Caroline in the Feb. 9 episode “Dangerous Liaisons”—which might explain the stills of the two of them dancing together.

Heathmonterrey: Stefan and Elena—is there any hope for them?
The triangle definitely heats up in the next few episodes as Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) try to rebuild their relationship in spite of both brothers being in love with the same girl.

FrankLewis97: Any chance Stefan will end up being badder than Klaus, and Klaus a big old softy? I like bad Stefan.
The producers told me they swear that Klaus won’t go soft, but that doesn’t mean we won’t start to see a more human side of him—except where his war with Stefan is concerned. Why is it that Stefan always manages to bring out the worst in Klaus?

Nicole_Gutierrez: When will we see Jeremy again?
Word has it that Steven R. McQueen is still in Atlanta, so hope is not lost for Jeremy fans!

Collider has an interview with Kevin Williamson.

Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

Question: Why did you finally decide that it was the right time to have Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) share a real kiss?

Kevin Williamson: Well, we would have pulled it off sooner, if we could have. We felt like it was time. We just had to wait for the audience to truly respond to the kiss. We have our Elena fans, who have been craving it, but those fans would also reject it, out of hand. There are people who want Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena forever, and they were going to reject the kiss, so it had to be an honest thing for Elena to do. We had to make it real for her, and we had to tiptoe towards it. If we hadn’t, you would have hated Elena. Stefan had to take that turn, so she turned her attention to the one person who’s showing her the love, and she’s tempted by him. Who wouldn’t be? He’s a vampire. He has a power over her, and he’s being really good to her. And, he’s being tormented by it, too. In a weird way, he’s never going to let anything bad happen to his brother.

It’s a great love story because everybody loves everybody. No matter how much they hate each other, everybody loves everybody. It’s a perfect three-way, if they would all just come together. If they could all get along, it would be a hot time. Look, we’re in our third season. I don’t think we have a lot of new audience members, at this point. It is our fans. They’re the ones that are keeping us on the air. They’re our bread and butter. Even beyond that, we just want to be honest to the characters. You can’t just have Elena jump into bed with someone because that’s what the writer wants them to do. You have to earn it, and the character has to do it. It took us this long to earn it. From the second episode of this show, when she walked into the Salvatore mansion and she met Damon for the first time and he kissed her hand, that’s when it began. It just took us two and a half years to say, “I think they can kiss. We’ve earned it.”

Synopsis:

PERSIA WHITE GUEST STARS AS BONNIE’S MOTHER —
Bonnie (Kat Graham) believes her recurring dreams about Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) coffins will tell her how he can be killed. The dreams also lead Bonnie to a reunion with her mother, Abby (guest star Persia White, “Girlfriends”), whom Bonnie hasn’t seen for 15 years. At Abby’s remote farmhouse, Bonnie and Elena (Nina Dobrev) meet Jamie (guest star Robert Ri’chard, “One on One”), the young man Abby took in years earlier. Bonnie’s sudden appearance catches Abby off-guard, but she does her best to explain the past. Tyler (Michael Trevino) turns to an unexpected ally in his quest to regain his free will. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is intrigued by Alaric’s (Matt Davis) new friend, Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto), and Klaus continues his bitter negotiations with Stefan (Paul Wesley) over control of the coffins containing his family members.

EW has an interview with Torrey DeVitto.

Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Last week’s episode established that Dr. Fell is a member of a Founding Family and on the Council. So has she been in town for awhile and we just haven’t met her until now?

TORREY DEVITTO: When I talked to [exec producer Julie Plec], my take on it was that she’s obviously from there, left and went to medical school, and she’s just coming back into town.

TV Line has an interview with Joseph Morgan.

Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

TVLINE | They’re introducing your brothers, Kol and Finn. What’s Klaus’ dynamic with them like?

What’s wonderful about that is that the writers have really worked to make these two guys individual. It’s not just like there are these two badasses, and they’re both the same and you can’t tell them apart. They really have distinct personalities ,just like Elijah and Klaus are very different. … You can’t say Kol is “kind of like Damon” or Kol is “kind of like” that. They’re really not. They’re on their own, and they have distinct motives and relationships. It’s just been really interesting bringing in, again, a new dynamic. I feel like we’re getting closer and closer to a spin-off.

E! Online has an interview with Candice Accola.

Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

“I’m really excited there’s an episode where there’s a ball. Everyone got to get all dressed up,” she says. “We took ball dancing lessons. It was really fun. I’m excited for people to see that episode for many more reasons besides the fact that we got to get dressed up, but I don’t want to give those reasons away. I’m just going to say because we got all dressed up, which is code for a lot of s–t goes down.”

Collider has an interview with Joseph Morgan.

Check it all out here.

Here is an excerpt:

Question: When you play a character that’s lived for so long, how do you approach the backstory for that much time?

JOSEPH MORGAN: It does go on forever. There’s a certain amount that’s developed for you, through the flashbacks, and then you fill in some of the gaps. I tend not to make up too many solid events that he’s been through because then that informs what I’m playing, and then that’s redefined by the writers anyway. When I joined the show, I didn’t know that Stefan and Klaus had a history together. My first few scenes that I was playing with him, I had no idea that it was going to go back and that you would find out that we knew each other, for years. Back in the ‘20s, we were friends. So, it’s useful, to a certain extent, to make backstory and think about that, but to create anything that’s too solid is detrimental, when you’re playing things, later on.
