The Vampire Diaries Episode Fifteen Synopsis, Pictures & Soundtrack

An unsuspecting Hiker stumbles upon Harper in the woods. Little does he know that Harper is a very hungry Vampire recently awakened from a long sleep. Harper seems confused about where he is and what year it is. The hiker tries to help him but realizes too late that the Vampire is only interested in his blood. Harper, feeling refreshed, takes off out of the woods in the hiker’s clothes.

Elena once again approaches Jenna to see if she has found out any more information regarding her birth mother. Asking her to come inside, Jenna turns on the computer and shows Elena what she has found out. It seems that Isabel went to school in the next town over. She was a cheerleader and hung out with her best friend Trudie who still lives in the town. Jenna also decides to tell Elena that Alaric’s wife was also named Isabel and that she had been murdered.

Elena heads out to Stefan’s to tell him the latest information about her birth mother. She tells him that she has Trudie’s address and that she wants to go visit her. Stefan wants to go with her. Elena tells him that Alaric had a wife named Isabel but she had been killed. This is information that Stefan already knows.

In an effort to forget about Katherine’s betrayal, Damon has a private party with 3 Tri-Delta sorority girls. Stefan breaks up the party to ask Damon if he remembers anything about a girl named Isabel that he met at Duke University. Damon of course doesn’t make it easy for Stefan and gives no information out. He does assure Stefan that the 3 sorority girls will get back to their dorm safely and just wake up hung over.

Carolyn begins to get frustrated with Matt because he seems more interested in the TV show than in her. Soon, she has his attention and the two begin to make out. Shirts are removed but before they can go any further, they get a surprise visit from Matt’s absent mother Kelly.

In town, Alaric helps Jenna hang banners announcing the charity bachelor auction that was taking place that evening. Somehow, Alaric got roped in to being one of the bachelor’s being auctioned off for a date. Jenna is happy when Alaric gives her a kiss. Knowing it’s not the right time but knowing there is probably never a right time, Jenna tells him about Elena and her search for her birth mother Isabel. Jenna also shows him a picture of Isabel and he realizes that it’s the same Isabel he was married too.

Deciding impulsively, Elena heads on over to Trudie’s alone to find out about her mother. Getting up the nerve, Elena knocks on the door and Trudie appears. Elena tells her that she is Isabel’s daughter. Trudie seems stunned but invites her in. Trudie tells Elena that she hasn’t seen Isabel in 17 years. She also informs her that she has no idea who her father is.

Though, she did appear to be holding back some information regarding this matter. Hearing the tea kettle whistle blow, Trudie get’s up to take care of the tea. Once alone in the kitchen, Trudie text’s someone that Elena was there.

Matt cooks his mother up some dinner but it seems that she would rather have a stiff drink instead. She informs him that she broke it off with her boyfriend Pete and plans on staying in town for a while. Kelly gives Matt her opinion about dating Caroline. She is completely against it and would rather see him back with Elena.

Stefan meets up with Alaric in a park to discuss Isabel. Stefan convinces Alaric to just wait and not confront Damon about Isabel yet. He doesn’t want to see him get hurt by Damon. He also gets a picture of Isabel from Alaric to show to Damon and see if Isabel is the same one as the Isabel Damon attacked.

Flashing back, Alaric remembers when he and Isabel were at Duke and she was writing her thesis. He had complained to her about staying up so late and working on the computer all night. Finally, she tells him what she’s been looking into. Isabel tells him that she has been researching a small town near where she lived that had many mysterious deaths. The bodies had all been drained of blood but the law just considered them animal attacks. She believes it’s Vampires.

Back at Trudie’s, Elena discusses what her mother was like growing up. Trudie tells her that her mother was very popular. Trudie also coaxes Elena to drink her tea. After one sip, Elena figures out that it has verbena in it. Confronting Trudie, Elena asks her about Vampires. Scared now, Trudie tells Elena to leave immediately. Approaching her car, Elena notices a man down the road watching her. Reaching for her keys, she gets in her car and drives away.

At a bar in town, Damon stumbles upon Alaric having a drink. Trying to avoid a heated conversation, Alaric leaves before he says something he’ll regret. Turning around, Damon is confronted by Sheriff Forbes. She wants him a favor to enter the bachelor auction that night. It seems they are one short. Before agreeing to be auctioned off, Damon does ask her for a favor first. He wants her to do a background check on Alaric.

Trudie opens the door to find the same man that spooked Elena there. Telling him what he wanted to know, Trudie tries to shut the door. Telling him that he is not invited in. He informs her that he is not a Vampire and that he is coming in. Trying to convince him that she did what he wanted, the man doesn’t care and comes after her. Chasing her upstairs, the man shoves Trudie down the stairs to her death.

Elena arrives at Stefan’s but runs into Damon instead. Seeing that he is a bit drunk and struggling with the buttons of his shirt, she helps him out. Elena tells him that she found out who her birth mother is. He says “who care’s…she left you…she suck’s”.

Before Elena can say anything like her birth mother’s name, Stefan arrives. Privately, Stefan tells her that her teacher Alaric was married to Isabel. Informing her that Isabel was researching Vampires. He wants her to not discuss this with Alaric just yet either. Agreeing, Elena heads out to the auction on her own so that Stefan can talk to Damon. Stefan shows Damon the picture of Isabel and Damon seems pleased to see that it was indeed the same Isabel as Alaric’s wife. Damon still does not know that the Isabel he attacked is in fact Elena’s birth mother.

At the auction, Caroline brags to Elena about all the “cougars” trying to hit on Matt. When Matt’s mother Kelly approaches, Caroline tries to be friendly but is ignored. Saying hello to Elena instead and telling Elena that she broke her son’s heart. Kelly makes sure to get in a dig at Caroline though, calling her Matt’s “re-bound” girl.

Being very flirty, Damon and Mrs. Lockwood discuss the auction. Soon, Mrs. Lockwood tells him that she might put in a bid for him too. In a roundabout way, Damon tells her she can “rig” the auction and make sure she wins.

Reluctantly, Damon leaves to meet with Sheriff Forbes about her findings on Alaric. It appears that Alaric has a spotless record and there are no red flags. Of course, hearing that he went to Duke University and was married to Isabel is some information that Damon enjoyed immensely.

Mrs. Lockwood starts the auction by introducing all the bachelors. When she gets to Damon, Damon of course has a good time taunting Alaric about meeting his wife at Duke University and that they had a drink together. Making matters worse, Damon tells him that Isabel was delicious. Of course, no one else knows what any of this means…except Elena. Now Elena knows that it was Damon that attacked her mother.

Stepping outside for some fresh air, Elena meets up with Stefan. Stefan tells her what he knows about Isabel. He also tells her that they never did find Isabel’s body. Looking beyond Stefan, Elena once again sees the mysterious man she spotted at Trudie’s. Stefan brings her back inside.

Kelly stumbles on stage after winning the bachelor she wanted. Turning in her winning ticket to Caroline, Caroline tries to congratulate her. Kelly of course doesn’t really care what she says and tells her she doesn’t like her and that she thinks Caroline and her mother are fake.

Running into Damon, Elena confronts him about rubbing it in to Alaric about killing his wife. Also informing him that Isabel was her birth mother. Damon is stunned and is visibly confused. Leaving him dumbfounded, Elena storms off with Stefan right behind her.

Once outside, Elena and Stefan once again run into the man stalking her. He tells her to “stop looking for her…she doesn’t want to know you…she doesn’t want to see you”. Stefan sees that the man is under a compulsion and Elena tells him that she understands. As soon as she tells him this, he steps out in front of a moving vehicle and is killed instantly. Seeing his cell phone, Elena retrieves it and puts it in her pocket.

To no surprise, Mrs. Lockwood announces that she won the date with Damon but doesn’t see him anywhere. Jenna is happy to see that she won Alaric but he tells her he will see her later. Once again, Alaric remembers back to a conversation he had with Isabel. She was becoming obsessed with all this Vampire folk lore and he just wanted things to be normal again. She tells him that maybe she doesn’t want to be normal…maybe she wants something more.

Back at Damon’s home, Alaric, armed with a long blade decides to get revenge for Isabel’s death but he is no match for Damon’s strength. Throwing Alaric around like a twig, Damon tells him that this will only end badly for him. He tells Alaric that Isabel came to him and asked to be turned into a Vampire. Not wanting to hear anymore, Alaric lunges forth but ends up with the blade in his chest instead. Alaric falls to the ground and dies.

Stefan arrives a bit too late and sees what Damon has done. Damon, in his usual nonchalant attitude tells Stefan to take care of Alaric. Staring at Alaric’s lifeless form, Stefan is stunned to see that Damon really killed him. Surprising him even more is when he sees Alaric’s fingers start to move. Alaric is alive and looks at the ring Isabel gave him. Remembering back, he thinks about what she told him when she gave it to him. She told him to wear it always and that it would always protect him. Now he knows that the ring has special powers and that as long he wears it, he is protected.

Alone in her room, Elena finally gets the nerve to use the cell phone and call the last number from the most recent call. Soon, Elena hears a females voice say “was there a problem…did you find her…what’s going on”? Elena immediately says “Isabel” but is hung up on immediately.

At a secluded home in the woods, Harper knocks on the front door. Pearl and Anna are there. They tell him they’ve been expecting him. The lady of the house invites him in and welcomes him.
