The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Episode 17 Synopsis, Pictures & Soundtrack

Seeing Isobel at the front door was quite a shock for Elena but an even bigger shock to Jenna. Jenna realizes that Alaric’s wife was not dead and actually standing before her. Elena demands that Jenna not allow her in and slams the door. Back inside, Elena tries to console Jenna, who has ran up the stairs and doesn’t want to hear anymore lies.

Elena and Stefan try without any luck to talk to Jenna but she will not speak. John calls for them and Elena and Stefan head downstairs. They are not happy when they realize that John had allowed Isobel into the home. Isobel swears that she is their only hope and she knows where to find Klaus. Reluctantly, they accept her help.

Bonnie, Jeremy and Damon enter Dr. Martens home to take care of the bodies and to find the Grimoire and hopefully discover a way to destroy Klaus once and for all. Looking at all of the books, Jeremy wonders how they will ever find the correct spell. Using her powers, within seconds Bonnie had the correct book in her hands.

Isobel enters the newly foreclosed home she bought as a safe house for Elena. Once inside, Isobel is attacked but soon realizes it is just Katherine. The two embrace like old friends. She tells Katherine that she has made a deal with Klaus. A deal that will set them all free. She just needs Katherine to get the moonstone.

Caroline shows up at the Lockwood’s in hopes of finding Matt. He has been missing since he discovered her little secret. Mrs. Lockwood tells her she hasn’t seen him at all. Seeing Elena and Stefan enter, Caroline races over to them. They too have no idea where he is.

Bonnie, Jeremy and Damon head out to the old mansion where the witches were massacred so many years before. Once entering the old home, Damon instantly feels that the spirits do not want him there. Taking the hint, Damon decides to wait outside.

Katherine heads up to Damon’s room while he is gone to try and find the moonstone. Looking everywhere, even in the fireplace, Katherine has no luck. Washing the soot from her hands, Katherine discovers that the moonstone was right there in front of her in a bowl or assorted soaps.

Isobel stops Alaric by his truck and tells him that she is really sorry for everything and that she truly loved him. Turning to walk away, Isobel knows that behind her, the witch is putting a spell on Alaric and putting him in the truck.

Inside the abandoned home where the witches were burned so many years earlier, Bonnie begins to try and channel the spirits so she can discover how to destroy Klaus. Jeremy becomes spooked when even he can hear the whispers of the deceased witches.

At the Lockwood’s, Elena steps in for Jenna on accepting check for a scholarship. Up the stairs, John spots Isobel and asks why she was there. She responds by telling him she needed a distraction. Before he has time to react, Isobel bites his neck and shoves him down the stairs. During the commotion, Katherine switches places with Elena. Isobel takes off with Elena.

By the time he reaches the truck, Stefan realizes that it is Katherine and not Elena standing before him. Before he can do anything, Katherine pulls out a needle and stabs him with it. Tossing him into the bushes, Katherine drives off.

Jeremy watches on helplessly while Bonnie screams out in pain while she is listening to the dead witches. He tries to help her but the spirits kept him from getting any nearer. Once it is finally over, Jeremy rushes to Bonnie’s side to make sure she is fine.

Outside of the Lockwood’s, Sheriff Forbes sees Matt. Matt is visibly upset and accuses her of covering his sisters death. Telling her that he knows it was a Vampire that killed her. Sheriff Forbes try hard to get Matt to calm down.

Damon prepares to take a shower when he receives a call from Stefan, informing him that Isobel took Elena. Hanging up, Damon instantly looks for the moonstone and discovers that it is gone.

Katherine arrives at the safe house, hoping to find Isobel. Once inside, she receives a call from Isobel who tells her that she was very sorry but Klaus wanted her and the moonstone. Realizing what she meant, Katherine spins around but sees it is too late. She is knocked out.

Isobel brings Elena to an old cemetery and shows her where her parents had her buried. Telling her that even though there was no body, her parents still put flowers on her grave every week. Isobel soon receives a call telling her that she can release Elena and that she is done. Smiling now, Isobel tells Elena that she is truly sorry for being such a disappointment. Yanking the chain that held her special stone off her neck, Isobel suddenly begins to burn up in the sunlight.

Caroline sees Matt at her house and tries to explain to him that it is still her and that she loves him. Matt pushes her away and tells her how alone he is. That he can’t trust anyone anymore. Matt soon demands that she compel him to forget everything. Reluctantly, Caroline does just that.

Damon and Stefan decide that the best place for Elena was right there in their home. They signed over the deed of the house to her. She would have the power to say no to any Vampires that try to enter.

Matt leaves Caroline’s and hops into Sheriff Forbes car waiting outside. She had given Matt verbena so Caroline’s spell would not work. He tells her everything.
