The Love Triangle
[The Vampire Diaries] The concept of a love triangle in The Vampire Diaries is very similar to that of the Twilight Saga but the differences lie in the character development. Elena likes Stefan, Stefan is attracted to Elena, and Damon simply wants to have his kicks with the both of them.
In The Vampire Diaries novels, Damon does develop true feelings for Elena but it will be interesting to see what route the writers decide to take with the show. It’s clear Twilight Saga fans have fallen head over heels for the love triangle between Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).
With so much time in between Twilight films, The Vampire Diaries could fill the love triangle void that Twilight Saga fans will be missing once New Moon leaves theatres. After all, nothing says love like two vampires squaring off to the death over a human girl. Oh, the irony. But remember, there was also a love triangle in Buffy the Vampire Slayer between Angel, Buffy, and Spike, which proved to be more successful than anyone could have imagined.

The Vampire Diaries looks like it will be a fun show but it will never infringe on The Twilight Saga – different story line and they don’t have Robert Pattinson! Will still love The Vampire Diaries none the less.
I so agree with Monica. The Vampire Dairies does look very good, but nothing, I say nothing will never even come close to as ya’ll saying “take a bite out of Twilight”. Reason number one no vampire is ever going to look as good as Robert playing Edward.
Well I really enjoyed Buffy when I was younger, the Vampire Diaries seems like it’s going to be a good show. As far as taking a bite out of Twilight, well I don’t think that it’s going to take away fans, just possibly have the same ones. They are two different story lines. Plus Robert Pattinson doesn’t star in the Vampire Diaries, girls can’t help but love to watch him in the Twilight saga.
I agree with these coments! its good it really is and i probably will watch it but i know that it will not reach the same level as twilight.
1 it has robert pattison (obvious) 2 it gots taylor and hot werewolves 3 well its just so DARN awsome!! but i still like vampire diaries and will definatliy be there to watch!! ^_^
WELL I HAVEN’T GOT A CHANCE TO READ THE VAMPIRE DIARES BOOK I HAVE (OBVIOUSLY) LOL ANYWHO I TOTALLY DISAGREE ABOUT THE WHOLE TAKING A BITE OUT OF TWILIGHT…..COME ON THE TWILIGHT SAGA IS SO FREAKEN AWESOME…AND I READ THOSE BOOKS LIKE ABOUT 3,000 TIMES ALREADY I THINK THATS Y I HAVENT READ MY OTHER BOOKS I OWN LOL….I AM PRETTY SURE NEW MOON IS NOT GOING TO GO ANYWHERE WELL BESIDES TO THE STORES TO GET SOLD AND EVERYRTHING AND I AM PRETTY SURE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SLEEP OUTSIDE THE STORES JUST TO GET THE MOVIE AND THE SOUNDTRACK WHEN IT COMES OUT….ANYWAYS BACK TO MY POINT TWIFANS MIGHT WATCH THE SHOW BUT WILL ALWAYS STAY A TWIFAN…AND PLUS ROBERT PATTINSON IS NOT IN THE VAMPIRE DIARES SO THAT’S ANOTHER REASON…..AND TWIFANS WILL BE WAITING FOR ECLIPSE TO COME OUT AND BREAKING DAWN……..BUT I READ THE VAMPIRE DIARES SOON…I LIKE ANY BOOK THAT HAS TO DO WITH VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES AND ROMANCE…..TWIFAN #1
