“Why does everything John touches fall apart?” Elena asks in an upcoming episode of The Vampire Diaries.

We still don’t know who John Gilbert (David Anders) works for or why he’s really back in Mystic Falls, but Anders swears to TVGuide.com that his intentions for his biological daughter, Elena (Nina Dobrev), are good. But, he warns, “Nothing ever goes well by this guy. He likes to try to convey that sh–’s under control, but it never is, it seems.”
