So, we’ve decided to make up some of our own ideas of how we think the season could end. One option: in a weird turn of fate, we find out that Stefan somehow impregnated Katherine (so what if she’s a vampire and vampire’s supposedly can’t get pregnant — it happened on “Angel”!), and in the process that means that Stefan’s modern-day lady love Elena (Nina Dobrev) is related to him. Too weird? Fine.

We’ll just have to keep watching to see what happens. Sigh.

It’s another pic of Melinda Clarke who will be playing Matt and Vicki’s mom.

TVGuide.com: What should we expect in the season finale?
Plec: What we’ve been building to from the beginning — it’s something we took directly from the books — is this event called the Founders’ Day Celebration, which is the anniversary of the founding of the town. We’re looking into big period costumes and Civil War reenactments and maybe some parade action with some big floats. It’s going to be the big event that connects us back to 1864 and what went down back then. It messes things up so when we come back in Season 2, everyone has a reason to tune in again. There are nine “oh my God” moments.

Question: Does The Vampire Diaries have plans to resurrect Vicki? I’m hearing conflicting things. —George
Ausiello: The truth is right here: “We are not averse to bringing people back from the dead,” says exec producer Julie Plec, “but we would not do it with the first tragic death out of the gate. In the future, we absolutely will use those mystic tricks, but not with Vicki — as much as we loved Kayla [Ewell]. It would ruin the impact.”

Question: Enough of The Vampire Diaries. Got any scoop on True Blood that can hold me over till June? —Brittany
Ausiello: More Vampire Diaries scoop it is! Exec producer Kevin Williamson teases that the season is “building to the Founder’s Day Celebration. That will be our last episode of the season. We will bring that historical storyline somewhat to a close and at the same time, we will start the next chapter. We will involve some of the town council and we will also take it to the next level.”

Did Damon really kill Elena’s birth mother on The Vampire Diaries? I can’t help but feel like there’s more to this story. — Taryn
MICKEY: Well, yeah. When Diaries returns on March 25, we’ll learn once and for all who killed Isobel, and why. But you might be more interested in another shocking murder that takes place this spring. Don’t grieve too much for the victim; he or she will be miraculously brought back to life shortly thereafter. (For the record, we aren’t talking about a vampire “turning” here — he or she will really be alive again.)

Turns out Amber is a beauty pageant contestant who will compete in late April episode against Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) to be the next Miss Mystic Falls. This sounds like a fun follow-up to the bachelor auction Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matthew Davis) will take part in when the show returns with a new episode (“A Few Good Men”) on March 25.

Vampire Diaries execs didn’t have to cut through any bloody red tape to cast David Anders as Elena and Jeremy’s uncle, Jonathan Gilbert. “When we started talking about this role, I immediately thought, ‘What about Sark from Alias?’ executive producer Julie Plec recalls. “We called his agent the next day and the day after that [the deal was] done.”

It’s fair to say Anders’ arrival in Mystic Falls will be slightly more complicated. The Alias and Heroes alum makes his debut in the April 15 episode when it comes time for Elena and Jeremy to sell their father’s doctor office. “He has to sign the escrow papers but he isn’t quite ready to give the office up,” explains fellow e.p., Kevin Williamson. “But like everyone else in town, he’s there for something [else]. His intentions are not pure.”

The Vampire Diaries‘ brooding bloodsucker Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is in for one hell of a tasty treat when The O.C.’s Melinda Clarke blows into Mystic Falls as Matt’s hard-partying, absentee mother, Kelly, on March 25. “The two of them hit it off instantly and form a bond that results in some hard-core flirtin’ and sexin’,” coos exec producer Julie Plec, who notes that “Damon isn’t just about the high school girls. He’s a worldly guy, so watching him sex it up with a real woman was very exciting.”

Many of the cliffhangers fans were left with when the last original episode aired will be addressed on March 25, when the next original episode, titled “A Few Good Men,” airs. Paley guests were treated to an advance screening of the episode, which (trust us) takes Damon’s cruelty to a whole new level. By the end of the hour, you’ll be left wondering how Elena can ever even speak to him again. “Some truths are revealed and the episode ends on a major bang,” teases Paul Wesley (Stefan). He’s not kidding.

Adds co-executive producer Julie Plec: “Bonnie’s been nothing but supportive of Elena’s relationship with Stefan up until this point, but
given everything that’s happened — the tomb didn’t quite get closed and Grams died for nothing, it’s going to be difficult for her to be a good friend.”

Damon is asked by Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) to take part in a fund-raising bachelor auction. Alaric (Matt Davis) discovers shocking secrets from his own past. With help from Jenna (Sara Canning) and Stefan, Nina is determined to find out everything she can about her birth mother, but the truth may be more than she can handle. Josh Butler directed the episode written by Brian Young (#ds114)..

Ausiello: “Damon spends most of episode 14 and a good portion of 15 drunk,” reveals exec producer Julie Plec. “Watching him sort of spiral into the abyss of self pity is kind of hilarious.”

Hollywood Life caught up with Paul Wesley at Cosmopolitan magazine’s “Fun Fearless Male Awards”.

Stephen Moyer from True Blood and Kellan Lutz from Twilight were also in attendance. The three were asked who would win in the fight?

Below is what Paul said:

Vampire Diaries‘ Paul Wesley stood by himself when asked which cast would win. “I would win any fight, any vampire fight,” he said. But, for him, the battle lies within the scenes of his own show. He admitted he’s thirsty for Damon’s (played by Ian Somerhalder) blood. “I would kick Damon’s ass! I’m convinced of that and I plan on kicking his ass in future episodes,” he shared with us.
